April 28 California Mille Car Show

The Campaign for the Mendocino Headlands is a
joint effort of California State Parks and the Mendocino Area Parks Association (MAPA)

Watch a video about our Campaign, hosted by Doug McConnell, of
OpenRoad.TV and longtime host of "Bay Area Backroads" television show.

Visit Mendocino, and stay at one of our B&B partners to help restore Mendocino Headlands State Park. Your voluntary donation of a few dollars per night will help preserve the 1854 Ford House and ensure ongoing stewardwhip of the historic and natural beauty of the Headlands.

Wherever you go in the town of Mendocino, the Headlands surround you.  Their paths guide you to the edge of the world to enjoy broad ocean views, crashing surf, and fabulous sunsets.  From the edge of the world, you look back to the town, forever preserved as a 19th century coastal village.  But few people realize that the Headlands are a State Park.  There is no gate, no entrance fee, and few signs.  It's simply a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.

The Mendocino Headlands needs your help.  State Parks doesn't have the funding to carry out overdue repairs to the Ford House, improve trails, or restore eroded areas.  There is no money to update old exhibits in the Ford House, or to tell the story of Mendocino's 20th century revival as an artists' colony.  The consequences of continuing to defer these repairs are grave:  without a new roof and foundation, the Ford House cannot continue to serve 25,000 visitors each year.  Without repairs, eroded trails will become dangerous.  Ultimately, State Parks could be forced to close parts of the Headlands.
